Computer and Car System Analogies

Introduction

The world of mechanics is truly interesting. Each decade brings new innovations in areas such as automotive engineering, electrical engineering, and computer engineering, just to name a few. The main thing that unites all of these new innovations is the amount of creativity and ingenuity required of the people who are persevering in their positions. Without the innovation of engineers, there would be so much that we would not be experiencing today. Some of these innovations are remarkable and a huge part of our daily lives in the inner architecture of cars and computers. From an electrical control unit to the central processing unit, there are some unique connections that can be made between the makeup of these two machines. And going even deeper, how in today’s modern technology, these two systems work together inside one machine.

Being able to make the connection between the world of computer engineering and mechanical engineering is key to advancing as a society. When we are able to understand how both connect and play off of one another, we are then able to bring more innovation into both fields. Engineers must consider the physical forces and materials that go into moving vehicles, along with the requirements in hardware for a computer making tons of decisions per minute to give us the experience of operating systems today. One of the main uniting aspects of these two disciplines is that each system, though different in structure, takes both input and produces output. The connections and similarities will be what we examine throughout this website. This site is to serve as just a small overview of all the different topics, and we encourage you to dive deeper into research about each topic.
